About Dr. Bernas

Eliza Bernas, MD, is a seasoned family medicine physician who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her patients at The Center for Integrative and Functional Health and Wellness in Bloomingdale, Illinois. She practices a holistic, integrative approach to health and wellness, with an emphasis not only on treatment, but also on prevention and cure.

Dr. Bernas thoroughly diagnoses and treats her patients using the best approaches from traditional Western medicine, functional medicine, and complementary Eastern philosophies and treatments. Dr. Bernas believes in and values a collaborative approach to working with her patients and treatment team to support a patient’s care and progress. She listens closely to her patients’ needs, taking the time to practice what we call “Dedicated Medicine,” an approach that values the person and honors their needs.

Dr. Bernas graduated in 1985 from the over-400-year-old Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas at the Catholic University of the Philippines. After graduation, she interned at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Manila and then at the University of Illinois at Rockford, where she also completed a family medicine residency.

Both patients and the rest of the center’s treatment team describe Dr. Bernas as “warm, engaging, attentive, and thorough.” Dr. Bernas works closely with her patients to educate them about all the available treatments to create a roadmap to excellent health.
